Formerly known as Little Paris, Bucharest still lives up to its nickname through the wonderful Belle Epoque architectural style still defining much of the city center. However, the tumultuous history Romania has had to endure has left a much more diverse influence on Bucharest, turning it into a truly dazzling mosaic of different styles. As such, you will find medieval churches, interbellum-era buildings, and charming bohemian houses alongside modern architecture and communist era buildings.
Start by visiting the beautiful Old Town, where you will discover Bucharest’s old medieval Palace, hidden churches and the city’s oldest Tavern, now a famous restaurant, Manuc’s Inn. This part of town will also be your destination of choice if you plan to go out in the evening: Bucharest’s Old Town is infamous for its nightlife and the area is packed with all sorts of clubs, pubs, taverns and bistros, for all tastes and prices. Parties last until sunrise and often spill out into the street itself, so get ready to go wild!
If you prefer a more relaxed version of Romania’s Capital, there are numerous landmarks and museums which will satisfy your appetite for culture.
